| Newton's color theory is just wrong for artists, and yet it is taught to artist students, why? Goethe said that it is not the absence of darkness that creates colors, but, rather, it is the interaction of light and darkness by which the Universe paints our world. I have only to watch a sunrise or a sunset to verify this. Sure, I do teach Itten's theory, too, because the four seasons are easy to experience and talk about while color waves are far-away abstractions are to be talked about and not drawn with. |
